Tailmate started with a simple observation: too many dogs spend their days alone, and too many owners struggle to find the right walking buddy. We're building the calmest, kindest place to make those connections happen — in real life, not just on screens.

Our story
Tailmate began at the Buttes-Chaumont, after a third missed playdate in a row. Two dogs, two owners, and no easy way to know in advance whether a small terrier and a big Labrador would actually get along — or whether their schedules would line up.
We tried existing apps. They were either dating apps reskinned for dogs, or noisy social feeds. Nothing focused on the bit that actually matters: a calm, well-prepared first meetup that becomes a routine.
So we started building it ourselves. Today Tailmate is a small team of designers, engineers and dog owners working on the most boring, useful version of a "dog app" we can think of — one that gets out of your way and helps you find a real walking buddy.
